Trip Start-up

View of Barcelona from Sagrada Familia
Our original plan was to visit Moscow but thanks to Mr. Putin and his antics, we decided to forego Russia and rearranged our whole trip.  The revised trip has turned out better than we could have imagined with a wild combination of Barcelona (as originally planned), Bavaria including Oktoberfest (!), and a week in Belfast (we spent a couple weeks in Ireland 18 years ago but never visited the north).

Instead of our usual wine-oriented trips, this one is shaping up to be a real beerfest.  Bring on the Augustiner and the Guinness!

Here is our new, and we think improved, itinerary (take that Putin!):

Barcelona, Spain -- we'll spend several nights visiting with our friends Janet & Steve Sharp at their home exchange in the countryside north of the city, followed by a couple nights in marvelous Barcelona itself

Dusseldorf, Germany -- we'll visit this dynamic German city for the first time (originally intended as a convenient stop between Barcelona and Moscow)

Augsburg, Germany -- this will be our base for experiencing Munich's Oktoberfest; we are more than ready to finally cross this one off the Bucket List!

Belfast, Ireland -- we'll spend a week here learning all about "The Troubles" and taking in the sights of The Titanic Quarter

We'll be updating the blog with stories and pics as we go.  Thanks so much for traveling with us!
